(1) Dangerous Journey

For those doing RTR, Answers In Genesis has an illustrated audio of Dangerous Journey out!
(use your search button for " Dangerous Journey" and possibly "part 1"
Note: You should probably close all your computer windows when you open this one; otherwise, it's quite slow, even tho it's really just an audio with the book illustrations (like many library book videos).

We loved reading the book, but are enjoying the "review" as well!

(2) Coat of Arms

(a) Some websites let you create a shield online:

Design a coat of arms

(b) Other websites have coloring pages you can print out and draw your own shield.

(c) There are also books about heraldry or designing shields. The book we have is:
Design Your Own Coat of Arms: An Introduction to Heraldry,
By Rosemary Chorzempa
Julie, married 29 yrs, finding our way without Shane
Reid (21) college student; used MFW 3rd-12th grades (2004-2014)
Alexandra (29) mother; hs from 10th grade (2002)
Travis (32) engineer; never hs

This was a full week with several worthy paths to explore, so we slowed down to study Canterbury Tales, Robin Hood, and Pilgrim's Progress and stretched this week into two.

Dangerous Journey/Pilgrim's Progress
In case you feel you want to go more indepth with or need more background/explanation on the Dangerous Journey, here is a study guide:

To aid us in the understanding of Medieval occupations (which we encounter often in Robin Hood and Canterbury Tales), we borrowed:
Archers Alchemists & 98 Other Medieval Jobs You Might Have Loved or Loathed, by Priscilla Galloway and Martha Newbigging

Canterbury Tales
You may want to take a virtual tour of the Canterbury Cathedral (and see where St. Thomas a Becket was martyred)
Navy Wife, Mother of 2 Blessings

If you do the solar system model as described in the T.M. using paper, you might want to substitute beads for Pluto, Mars, and Mercury - we did that and it was much easier than trying to cut circles that small (especially when our compass would resize itself as we tried to draw our circles).

Get a glimpse of the Magna Carta, guaranteeing the church will be free:

This 1-minute video goes on to give an interesting fact about the Bible:
"Stephen Langton helped separate the Bible into chapters."

This is the same guy who helped write the Magna Carta in 1215.
I added that on a sticky note to my copy of How the Bible Came to Us / The Early English Bible.

BibleGateway.com has more info on that, if you find it as interesting as I do.
Their page also tells you how to turn off the chapter/verse display on their site and try reading the Bible that way:

As we begin Dangerous Journey, here's a 1-minute video about author John Bunyan. The widespread influence and popularity of his Pilgrim's Progress is quite amazing to hear about!
