I think it would be fine as my middle gal was ahead of the phonics curve. We just turned it into spelling lessons and let her read more library books. The rest of the program was fine -- language arts in composition, copywork, etc. And then some of the phonics section had language arts/spelling rules. So we did fine with it with an ahead of the program in reading child because on everything else (math, composition, Bible learning etc..... she was fine. With a child who is turning 7 in september... should work especially since you can invite her to join in family fun activities in the 5 year cycle.4littlehearts wrote:Would this work? I love the Bible emphasis but do not know if my dd will be challenged in the reading department. Any reassurances? She is reading words with sounds she has never even learned yet. She is no genious, she is just an older Kindergartener. She will be 7 in late Sept., starting 1st grade. In maturity, she is not ready for Adventures yet, the content of MFW 1st grade would suit her, just concerned about the reading aspect.
site note.....
Children who are in 2nd grade and have older siblings in the 5 year cycle program -- don't have to do ADV. They get folded into the older program and do the non-advanced assignments and do math and language arts on their level.
