Proverbs Book
"The Ant and the Grasshopper" is suggested in the TM for science week 1. We read this book when introducing Proverbs 10:5 [in week 7] and it gives another great picture of the meaning of this proverb, with some cute illustrations.

Good Books - Seasons
Good books we used are:
About the Seasons, by Sindy McKay (a "We Both Read" book, w/ a parent's page & child page)
The Seasons, by Shannon Cannon (a phonics reader, too!)
Babar's Busy Year, by Laurent de Brunhoff (just fun)
Four Puppies, a Little Golden Book (excellent if you can find it)
Our Seasons, by Grace Lin (another neat one to share reading)
The Year At Maple Hill Farm, by the Provensens (repeat from MFWK)

Ox-Cart Man by Donald Hall would fit nicely with seasons.

Seasons With Art
My family loves creating art, so the unit on Seasons was great fun. We created a set of 4 seasons using construction paper, used our fingers to paint trees for each season and made "disappearing trees" by painting autumn hued watercolors over painter's tape trees and removing the tape. Here is a sample to spark your own ideas.
