What to do next?

Unread post by kldlboyd » Sun Jun 10, 2018 9:12 pm

My two just finished up 1850 to Modern Times. They will be entering 8th and 6th grade in the fall 2018. I assume that 1850 to Modern Times is for those entering 8th grade so I am not sure how we go "ahead" in the curriculum but not sure what to do next. I am not sure they are ready for Ancient History and Literature. Any suggestions?

You go back and repeat Exploring Countries and Cultures, adding in the 7th/8th grade supplement for the 8th grader. The 6th grader would then do CTG and RTR the next two years after that.

Just so I am clear... I am doing ECC with the 7th/8th grade supplement with my 8th grader AND my 6th grader? Or, just my 8th grader and starting my 6th grader with CTG for the upcoming year? Thanks in advance!

This will be the last year your children do the same guide. You do ECC with both children for the upcoming year. The 8th grader uses 7th/8th grade supplement plus will need to do 7th grade science as recommended by MFW. Each student continues using their own level language arts and math. The following year, your older child starts the high school cycle with Ancient History and Literature and does one guide per year, while your younger child would do CTG in 7th and RTR in 8th before moving on to the high school guides.

Thanks so much for your responses. It is really helpful. (Too bad this is the last year they will be using the same guide though.)
