For example, I just have them number from 1-6 (or however many we have learned) and put the roots that they remember with definition and derivations. This is how I have been handling this end of the week "quiz.' However, at the end of this week, I actually wrote the root and then expected ds and dd to write in the definition and as many derivations as they could. This seemed to work better.
How did you all handle it as the weeks went on and more and more roots were being taught?
Last year in CTG, I just tested my 4th grader orally. I put the cards he knew in one pile & the ones he missed in another, for review.
Then once in a great while, I made a crossword puzzle online. I think this was the site:

Sometimes I would enter the words, sometimes the definitions. He usually needed help with the ones that have similar meanings (e.g. syn & thesis) or vague meanings, but he had the majority down pat.
And when you get to about week 17 (?) in the CTG manual, there are review games that my son really loves.
This year with RTR & in 5th grade, I am thinking of having him test on paper at least occasionally. However, we're behind & have only done the Latin numbers so far. I already know he has them memorized, so I don't need the test yet. I'm glad to hear your experience for our weeks to come.
