problem solved? I don't know... it just sounds too easy
Nope, sounds great.

Let's see, so ...
Mae: ECC
Viola: ECC + 1st Bible notebook (for ECC), phonics/spelling wb, math
James: MFW K
Jack: helpful
I don't know why I didn't think of having Viola do the Proverbs/Bible from 1st with James the next year. I like that as he'd like to have someone to learn with, too, especially when it comes to memorizing something in English. Thanks so much!

Julie ~ This is another good idea. Hmm. Maybe I'll think about having Viola (1st) do all but science and instead of tagging along in ECC have her tag along in MFW K science since she did not do that this year, but then what will I do for her copywork? Maybe all of 1st, tagging along with science/activities in K, and listening in on Window on the World and the read alouds from ECC. She'll do ECC again, of course, so perhaps letting her be littler this year, despite her reading abilities, will be more engaging for her ... she is very much only a 6-year-old (this Thursday!). That sort of sounds complicated, but I think if she has her MFW1 time with me and floats between K and ECC for other lessons she'll get plenty. I'll think about those ideas, more, too. Thank you!
MelissaB wrote:Bible - She can use the MFW 1 Bible Notebook to draw a picture and write part/all of the memory vs. with the ECC Bible lesson.
Can you explain to me a little bit more about how this might work? Since the Bible nb in 1st is relevant to actual Bible stories, it was fairly straightforward to build oral and written narration skills, along with illustrating the story. Is the bible in ECC actually around stories, or ideas, more or less? I'm just trying to envision what her Bible nb might look like by using ECC/Matthew.
Science - She'll probably really enjoy the Living World Encyclopedia and The Great Animal Search, and she can do The Book of Animals on her own while the older children do Prop. of the Ecosystems, which may be a little too advanced. (BoA is 2nd grade level - and awesome. Your older children will enjoy it, too.)
Yes! The CBoA. Definitely have that in my cart. And, the other two books will be a huge hit as well. I have to think more about this, but yes, maybe sitting in on ECC science vs K science as Marie suggests might be a better route, since she's a bit advanced.
ECC is such an amazing year. Every curriculum we've done with MFW is great - truly wonderful. But there's something about ECC. Everyone we know who's been through ECC says it's changed their perspective on life, and on Christianity in general. You have an amazing year ahead!! Enjoy!
I hear this over and over and ECC is the year that actually first drew us to MFW when we started K with my oldest. I'm eager to see it unfold in my family, as well.
Ah, so many great ideas!

Gosh, now I'm lost/torn, but in a great way! Thank you ... can I ask you a few more things? I put them in red above. Thanks!
