Ordering AHL
rxmom wrote:God Willing and "the creek don't rise" (as we say here in SW VA) we will be using AHL for our son's first year of high school. As I am getting ready to order, just wanted to see if you, who have gone before us, recommend ordering "extras" of anything. I know MFW recommends parents order an extra Taking the Old Testament Challenge.. anything else helpful to have an extra?
Thanks again...

I was actually fine with just one copy of OT Challenge and sharing at different times of day. Nothing was written in the book.... but I could see having 2 would make it easier. I did have 2 of those.. just well. uhm. didn't use the 2nd copy. it's ok...

I can make the case for having a parent copy of anything in the Bible section that you plan to do alongside or teach your child that has writing in it...

in AHL... Daniel study guide is write in, so that was nice to have a copy... well, ok. at last minute, we didn't do that study.... but if we had, I would have liked to done that separately...

in WHL, I wish I had gotten a copy of Experiencing God when I ordered package. again, that's because that is Bible study, doing together, and the book is written in...

other than that.... it wasn't that hard to share book if I needed it for a few minutes....

I wonder how different it was for others?

I also had an extra OTC but didn't use it really.

The only thing I can think of is that sometimes with literature, it's helpful to both have a book, because my son's usually is buried somewhere in his room, or we're discussing and it helps if we both have one. However, in AHL there isn't very much literature and we mostly used audiobooks as the second book, so I didn't need a second copy for lit. That would mostly be for families who don't use audios?

I know Julie and I teach differently...

hmm... for literature in my house, the answer keys were good enough for me to follow along.. or finding a text at library if needed.. occasionally spark notes.. online text in some of it... things like that helped me not to have to purchase double copies in ahl or whl.

Help-can someone help me find this archive?

I know it's there, but after searching for awhile, I couldn't find it. Can anyone help me out? It has to do with books that parents wanted to own so they could make things a little easier on conference day during AHL. Thanks!

Hi Charlene,
Here are a couple of possibilities...?

Parent meeting thread: http://board.mfwbooks.com/viewtopic.php ... 384#p93384

This was a conversation about helping lead co-op discussions, but has some similarities: http://board.mfwbooks.com/viewtopic.php ... 321#p72323

If those don't work, I can keep looking :)
